Intro

I would like us all to turn in our bibles to Psalm 139:13-14a.
We are going to be starting the sermon series that your parents have been on with Pastor John for the past few weeks.
We are told it’s our responsibility to make sure that we become something in the world; further, we are told that it is totally up to us to decide who, and what we will be.
That’s a lot of responsibility.
We as humans have so much to think about! We have our normal responsibilities. The ones that everyone has. Then we have to figure out our identity and everything that comes with it?
What if we pick the wrong identity? What if we choose something that we aren’t good at. What if the people around us that we want to be loved by don’t like what we pick? What if we pick, then we don’t like it all that much or it comes with some stuff that we don’t like, can we get a refund?
We are told that we are a happy accident resulting from a collection of genes from our parents. Further, if one didn’t believe in creation, but rather the theory of evolution, then everything around you would be classified as a “happy accident”.
What if I told you that you were hand crafted part by part, emotion, by emotion, piece by piece by the Creator of the Universe for this exact moment in time. What if I told you that everything about you was on purpose.
I’ve titled tonight’s message “Truth Is… You Are Hand Crafted by God” because the passage we are going to read this evening shows us that every part of us as humans was specially made by the Almighty God.
Pray/read
Psalm 139:13–14 (ESV)
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.

You are HAND CRAFTED by God

Make a Latte, make a Keureg.
Show the students the difference between a handcrafted bev, and a nasty one.
Much like the coffee I created had a purpose, the purpose of waking someone up…

God Designed you with a Purpose

LandCruiser vs Spark for beach driving.
Everything, including us, has a purpose. We are designed for the purpose that God has laid out for us.
Because we know that we are specially crafted by God....

Our Response is Praise

What does Praise look like in this instance?

Praise is Living as God Designed Me

Proverbs 31:10–31 ESV
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle. She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
Men
1 Timothy 3:1–7 (ESV)
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

Living as God Designed = Living with Jesus

Jesus gives me my Identity.
